What We Measure

The Full Picture

Every test targets a specific, trainable quality — speed, power, change of direction, movement quality and asymmetry. No vanity numbers; just data that guides better training.

Sprint & Speed

Timing-gate sprint testing with 10m, 20m and 40m splits — acceleration and top-speed mechanics measured to the thousandth of a second.

Jump & Power

VALD ForceDecks countermovement jump, squat jump and drop jump — height, peak force, power output and rate of force development.

Reactive Strength

Reactive Strength Index (RSI) from drop-jump testing — how efficiently an athlete absorbs and produces force in the stretch-shortening cycle.

Change of Direction

505 and pro-agility (5-10-5) tests — deceleration control and change-of-direction speed, assessed on both legs where relevant.

Asymmetry & Injury Risk

Limb Symmetry Index from bilateral force-plate testing — left/right imbalances that flag injury risk and guide prehab priorities.

Movement Screen

Structured movement-quality screening to identify restrictions and compensations before they limit performance or cause injury.

The Equipment

Professional-Grade Kit

The same technology used across professional academy and elite performance programmes — now measuring your athletes.

Force Plates

VALD ForceDecks

Dual force plates that measure exactly how an athlete produces and absorbs force — the gold standard for jump and power testing.

  • Dual force plates capturing countermovement jump, squat jump and drop jump
  • Peak force, power output and rate of force development
  • Bilateral and single-leg testing
  • Limb Symmetry Index calculated automatically — a key injury-risk indicator
  • Trusted across Premier League and elite performance programmes
Speed & Agility

Timing Gates

Photocell gates that capture sprint and change-of-direction times to the thousandth of a second — objective speed data, every time.

  • Photocell timing gates accurate to the thousandth of a second
  • Sprint splits captured at 10m, 20m and 40m
  • Acceleration and top-speed profiling
  • Change-of-direction testing — 505 and pro-agility
  • Repeatable, standardised protocols for reliable re-testing

On The Day

How It Works

A clear, structured session so every athlete is tested safely, consistently and to their full potential.

01

Warm-Up

A structured, coached dynamic warm-up prepares every athlete safely and consistently before any data is captured — so results reflect true performance, not a cold start.

02

Sprint Testing

Athletes run through the timing gates with multiple attempts, best time recorded. 10m, 20m and 40m splits are captured to profile acceleration and top speed.

03

Force Plate Testing

Countermovement, squat and drop jumps on the VALD ForceDecks. Power, force and Reactive Strength Index are measured, with left/right symmetry calculated in real time.

04

Agility & Movement

505 and pro-agility change-of-direction tests, plus a movement-quality screen to assess control, deceleration and any restrictions.

05

Report Delivered

A clear, plain-English performance report lands within 2–3 days — your numbers, what they mean, how they benchmark, and the training priorities that follow.

Common Questions

Testing FAQ

How long does a testing session take?

A Starter Screen runs around 45 minutes and a full Performance Profile around 90 minutes, including warm-up and results. A Team Testing Day is typically 2–3 hours for a squad of around 15–20 athletes; larger squads are no problem and simply run over a longer session or a full day. It's a straightforward £25 per athlete (minimum 10), and that price already includes each athlete's individual data report. If you'd like a full squad report for the coaching staff — rankings, benchmarks and the whole team in one place — that's a single £75 one-off on top.

When do I get my results?

Your written performance report is delivered within 2–3 days. It sets out your numbers, what they mean, how they benchmark, and the training priorities that follow.

What ages do you test?

All ages. Protocols and benchmarks are age-appropriate for youth athletes, and testing works equally well for adults and competitive athletes of any level.

Can you come to our club or facility?

Yes — Team Testing Days can be run on-site at your venue. Get in touch with your location and squad size and we'll sort a plan and quote.

Do I need to be an existing client?

Not at all. Testing can be a standalone service or built into an ongoing programme. Every new client starts with a free initial consultation.

What should I wear?

Normal training kit and trainers — the same you'd wear for a session. We'll take you through a full warm-up before any testing begins.
